This is not for the faint-hearted! But at the end of the day mum doesn’t have to be there all the time. Power kids will certainly get their money’s worth in South Tyrol, thanks to the sheer variety of what’s on offer: whether you’re zipping through turbulent water, storming treetops or going head-to-head in a rally – action is the order of the day on a family holiday in South Tyrol.
A sense of adventure, a good dose of courage and strong swimming skills- if you’ve got all that, then you’re in for a really special time in the roaring streams and rivers of the Puster Valley! Children can also try out rafting and canyoning under expert guidance. A total of four clubs (Club Aktiv in the Puster Valley, Rivertours in Gais, KreativRaft in Pflazen and Yeti Adventures in Bruneck) offer guided tours through the Ahr and Rienza rivers in the Puster Valley from May through to September. A variety of difficulty levels means that people of all ages can safely join in the fun!

Fancy exploring the countryside just like Pippi Longstocking did on her trusty friend, Little Old Man? Or can you see yourself marching your noble steed on to battle a dragon? Or would you rather take an elegant carriage ride though Maranza? Just take your pick!
Stables and pony yards can be found in Brixen and Sterzing as well as in Terento, Pfalzen and Reichbach.

Take aim, decide how hard to hit and… hole in one! How many strokes can you and your friends complete this course in? Precision, skill and mathematical thinking are the order of the day. But a good dose of humour and fun never goes amiss either. From the middle of June to early September mini golf fans gather here in Maranza to putt a few balls.

Explore the Puster Valley on two wheels! The Puster Valley cycle path is particularly good for families with children since it is relatively flat and the entire 105 km stretch from Mühlbach to Lienz in East Tyrol is suitable for recreational cyclists too. Don’t worry, you don’t have to do it all in one go! Our advice is to take the cable car to Mühlbach, where you can rent bicycles from the station. From there, get pedalling and explore the Puster Valley cycle path towards Bruneck/Lienz. You can go as fast and as far as you like, then take the train back to Mühlbach. The best thing is that each town between Mühlbach and Lienz has a train station so if you get tired at any point you can just hop on the train!
